| So it really is time to update. It has been a while since I have updated so it is time.
At the beginning of the year, Jim (my co-worker) and I took 9 students to Cincinnati, OH to the World Missions Summit 2.
Here we are. . .
Here are some pictures of the experiences and the large group gathering.
There ended up being over 5,000 students from all over the U.S. and our students came back excited about what they can do, on campus, in Idaho, and around the world.
On other notes. . . this semester for bible study/small group work Ashley (one of my students), Nettie (the wife of the children's pastor at Church), and I are doing a study on the women of the Bible. The study has been very interesting!
And finally I am working on getting a life! Since I'm not married, I don't have any children, and am no longer a student, it often seems as though I do nothing but work. I don't do anything but spend time with my students. While, spending time with them is important. I need a hobby were I am not thinking about how to help the person I am with grow as a person and can think about how to better myself and my life. So, I have taken up painting pottery. It is not completely, because I am painting coffee mugs, tea pots and plates, which believe me are being used by my students, but as I paint them I am able to spend time praying and thinking. | | |
| Last week I was blessed to be a counselor at our area kid's camp. We had 63 campers from 4 area churches. And God ROCKED the place. Every night God moved on the kids and really touched them. The first night and morning a band from the area called P.S. 150 came and lead worship. They did a great job, and then because we were very short on male leadership they jumped in and helped with the kids. Most of the kids were from very rough homes. One little girl had been kidnapped for three years, and several others had been through all kinds of abuse. It was amazing to see them open up to God and let Him heal their wounds. I felt so blessed to be able to be there and to have God use me to minister to them. We had about 5 kids pray to receive Christ on the first night and one little girl asked if she could be baptized. It is amazing what God can do when you let down your barriers and allow Him to touch you. | | |

As Valentine’s Day hit it seemed as though everyone was
scurrying to find someone to date. While
I know that this is a problem nation wide, it seemed to hit very hard here in Twin Falls, Idaho. Then after prayer and deep thought God began
to reveal something to me. I believe
that relationships are a spiritual stronghold here in Southern
Idaho. Don’t get me wrong
healthy dating and strong marriages are a blessing from God, but dating for dating's
sake and an over arching demand to be married is not God’s design. I believe that this may have ties to the Mormon
church that greatly influences Southern Idaho (25% of the population claims to be mormon). The Mormon church teaches “that the family is central to the Creator's plan for the
eternal destiny of His children. The
family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His
eternal plan”(www.mormon.org). There are many other things that tie into this
teaching, but the essence is that you are not fulfilling the Heavenly Father’s
plan for your life unless you are married and having children. In the New Testament Paul is very clear that
marriage is a blessing, but so is singleness. 1
Corinthians 7:32-34a ~ “I would like you to be free from concern. An
unmarried man is concerned about the Lord's affairs—how he can please the Lord.
But a married man is concerned about the affairs of this world—how he can
please his wife— and his interests are divided.”
I recently came across a statistic that said that 50 percent of all Americans are currently not married. This greatly differers from the number in 1900 which was only 5% unmarried, but then the average age of death was 47 so if you were going to have children you better get hopping.
I have also learned that the Mormon church (also know as the Church of the Latter-day Saints) believes that we as beings exist before we are born, and that physical birth is the "Heavenly Father's" divine plan for how we receive a physical body. The Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ both have physical bodies. Jesus is not God! He just got picked to come to earth and die for our sins. Check it out at mormon.org an official website by the Church of the Latter-Day Saint. It looks really nice, BUT hold so many things that are not true.
Please
join me in praying that the students of CSI would move their focus from who
will I date and marry to the kingdom
of God and His
affairs. Please pray that the lies of the Mormon church will be broken. That the truth of Jesus Christ, being fully God and fully man will be spread in Southern Idaho.
